It's hard to picture what American presidents were like before they left their marks on domestic and foreign policy.

Here we've collected old photos of US presidents to give a little taste of who they once were.

Not every president is listed since photography wasn't widely used during the United States' earlier history. The photos are shown in reverse chronological order — starting with current US President, Donald Trump.

Finance: United is cracking down on people with emotional-support animals in the wake of peacock incident (UAL)

United Airlines has updated its requirements for emotional-support animals.

  • United Airlines has adopted tighter regulations for emotional-support animals.
  • The new rules will go into effect on March 1.
  • Service animals are not subject to the new regulations.

United Airlines announced on Thursday that it will institute tighter regulations regarding emotional-support animals.

"In an effort to better balance protecting our employees and customers while accommodating passengers with disabilities, we are expanding our existing policy regarding emotional-support animals," the Chicago-based airline said in a statement.

The new policy, which will go into effect on March 1, comes days after a passenger attempted to bring a peacock on board one of United's planes as an emotional-support animal. Delta Air Lines announced last week that it will also tighten regulations for emotional-support animals.

United's current policy requires passengers to provide 48-hour notice and a letter from a mental health professional.

Starting March 1, United will require 48-hour notice, an "enhanced" letter from a mental health professional, confirmation that the animal has been trained to behave properly in public, and an acknowledgment of responsibility for the animal's behavior. The airline will also require a health and vaccination form signed by the animal's veterinarian.

According to United, customers whose documentation has already been approved will not be subject to the new policy. However, any additional reservations will be subject to the new requirements.

Those traveling with service animals will also not be subject to the new regulations.

In addition, the airline also published a list of animals that have been banned from the cabin of its aircraft. The list includes hedgehogs, ferrets, insects, rodents, snakes, spiders, reptiles, sugar gliders, non-household birds, exotic animals, and animals that have not been properly cleaned or that carry a foul odor.

Finance: Apple investors are holding their breath ahead of earnings (AAPL)

Investors will be watching for the company's guidance around sales of the iPhone X.

Apple is set to report earnings from its holiday quarter after the bell on Thursday, and investors are sure to be watching the results closely.

Shares of Apple are little changed at $167.46 in the hours before the report is set to cross the wires. Wall Street is expecting adjusted earnings of $3.84 per share on revenue of $87.302 billion, according to Bloomberg data.

GAAP earnings have been a bit of a hiccup for other tech companies that have reported earnings lately, as the new tax law has forced many companies to absorb one-off costs. Facebook reported a beat across every earnings measure except for GAAP earnings on Wednesday and saw its stock drop about 5% before recovering.

BMO Capital Markets made a splash on Wednesday when the firm issued a rare downgrade of the stock. BMO said it was concerned that the high price of the new iPhone X, which will be included in the earnings report for the first time, is driving down demand and stretching the pricing limits of the smartphone.

Shares of Apple have lagged so far this year, and are down 2.68%, compared to a gain of 7.57% by the S&P 500 Information Technology index.

Millennials don't seem to share the same reservations as Wall Street. Young investors on the trading apps Robinhood and Stockpile are loading up on shares ahead of the report.

Learn more about what to expect from Apple's report here.

Finance: Millennials are loading up on Amazon ahead of earnings (AMZN)

null

The e-commerce giant is expected to post revenues in excess of $58 billion for the holiday quarter.

  • Millennials are extremely bullish on shares of Amazon ahead of its earnings report Thursday afternoon.
  • Users on trading apps Robinhood and Stockpile are buying up shares quicker than their older peers.

Amazon
is scheduled to report fourth quarter earnings after the closing bell Thursday.

Wall Street expects the e-commerce giant to post adjusted earnings of $1.83 per share on revenues of $59.836 billion for the holiday quarter.

Wall Street analysts have a bearish target of $1,403 for the stock — 2% below the $1,439 price where shares were trading Thursday morning — but millennial retail investors are much more bullish, data from multiple trading platforms show.

On Robinhood, the trading app popular with millennials, young investors are buying shares of Amazon 44% more than they are selling them.

"Investors who live in tech hubs appear to be even more optimistic,” Dr. Sahill Poddar, Data Scientist at Robinhood told Business Insider. "Those based in Silicon Valley and Washington State, where Amazon's research facilities and headquarters are located respectively, are buying 66% more than they are selling, while investors in the rest of the U.S. are only buying 30% more than they are selling. This could be related to positive news regarding Amazon Go and Amazon's move into healthcare."

Amazon is also the most popular stock on the app Stockpile, which allows users to buy fractional shares of expensive companies, for both millennials and older investors. Investors there are buying shares 16 times more often than they are selling.

The internet is abuzz ahead of Amazon earnings. StockTwits, a platform where users discussing almost any equity or cryptocurrency send upwards of 200,000 messages a day, said messages around Amazon stock have doubled in daily volume as the company’s earnings report approaches.

“In January, sentiment for Amazon has been about 85% bullish but has started trending up into the low 90s since the start of the week going into earnings,” Garrett Hoffman, senior data scientist at the StockTwits, told Business Insider. “We saw this upward trend starting to build towards the end of last week, even before Amazon announced the Healthcare news.”

Shares of Amazon have gained 30% since the company’s last earnings report — or $206 billion of market value.

The deceased who was studying at a school in Cyprus, was reportedly kidnapped from his vehicle.

A court in Cyprus has arraigned three Turkish nationals for the murder of a young Nigerian man, Kennedy Toomwabwa Dede.

The deceased, 28, was studying at an academic institution in Famagusta before he was killed. He was found dead in the Çanakkale Pond according to the police.

Law enforcement officers confirmed that Dede was kidnapped and murdered on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. He was reportedly attacked by eight people who forcefully took him from his car.

The presiding Judge Gökan Asafoğluları gave an order for the accused, Zekeriya Kurucu, 22, Ozan Korkurt, 18, and Burcu Çelik, 16, to be held in police custody while an investigation is carried out.

In addition, the police has successfully apprehended four other suspects, Nidai Sanli, Onur Kurkurt, Simge Dagdur, and Aydan Sel in connection with the death of the Nigerian man.

Kennedy Toomwabwa Dede's death is one in many cases of deaths that have come to African migrants in the European countries mostly facilitated by racism.

The woman made her concerns known via a post on Instagram, Naij News reported.

In her text, the disturbed mom called for an intervention at the Linden-Grundschule Elementary School, where a teacher named Mrs. Schulz advised pupils in her class to stop interaction with the victim, who is the only African native in the institution.

This was after she showed her class a video of Africans going through sufferings known to their continent.

According to Osa, this treatment has discouraged her child from visiting school.

Ethics In Society: Family and the 21st century dilemma

Traditional African family unit

The family of today has been thrown into a state of dilemma, but it still lives in a state of denial.

There is an issue that has befallen the family in this very century; it has lingered for long and it has received the least attention in the society.

The family of today has been thrown into a state of dilemma, but it still lives in a state of denial. One cannot overlook the fact that kids of today are turning into something else and this could go a long way in destroying the hopes of tomorrow. There is a great issue of negligence on the part of parents, but the wind of survival seems to have taken its place in families, therefore, destroying the ethics which it was formerly built upon.

Paternal Decline.

It is obvious that in the past few years, there has been a decline in the activities of men folk in their homes and society. Men have degenerated from their office place to sit comfortably in the other room, while women run multinationals, and obviously are the pillars of their family. On the other hand, the idea of feminism and the slogans: wonder women, giant on heels, women are taking over, and so much more are hawked all over the air, social media, and right inside our homes.

Feminist advances

Taking a step back, it could be agreed that the society was formerly fashioned in such a way that there were duties assigned to each person, although it could be agreed that at a point, there came this imbalance that led to maltreatment of women which still takes place till date. But a step farther back will show women being held in high esteem in the various communities; they championed their course through their different social groups and units.

It is as a result of this battering by men, made families and culture porous and vulnerable to the poisoning of the society through the feminist ideology, concocted by the said Western thinkers. The said ideology is now being stretched beyond its boundaries, leading to wrecking of homes, society and the rational mind.

Women are indeed taking over, but where and how? It is obvious that the men folk, to their greatest nightmare, have been swept off their feet, and under the carpet by women who mean business in and out of the cooperate world. Women have been discovered to compete with men, in and outside offices, as business women. It is said that when a woman means business, she puts both her body and soul to work.

Which way Africa?

Africa is hoisted upon its culture and tradition, but it seems that a lot of its ethics are being watered as the years go by; this is vivid with the activities of the younger generations. The question usually asked could come in different forms: where could this thief of a child come from, why is the boy so rude, why can’t my child pass her exams, or where could she have learnt to dress like a whore.

There is only one answer to these misguided questions: where were their parents all these while. There is another slogan which must not be over looked: the 21 century woman and the working mother or even the 21 century parents. Most western society go through the pains of encouraging women to work, pay unemployed mothers and encourage women to take turns at work; it is because they know how depressing it could be to stay idle.

Strange homes.

Unfortunately, it is not the case in Nigeria, where both parents are barely known by their children. It is too obvious that due to the condition of the country, women have abandoned their children for the boardroom or making money. These children are as good as orphans because they grow up under the tutelage of a nanny who does not know her left from her right. They are not being monitored or guided; they have so many questions to ask, but end up asking the wrong person.

On the other hand, these children grow up to be misguided youths and adults who never discovered themselves; they struggle with personality issues, complex problems, and they lack sense of belonging. Some of these children are abandoned in school till late hours; they end up as victims of abuse and abductors. There is a serious problem with child obesity in Nigeria, because of the inability of most parents to monitor what their child eats.

The main unit of the society is the family: the child has role models in place which would fashion his growth, development, and he is offered all the good privileges of life. This is no longer the case, since parents now choose money over their child’s welfare. The highest sacrifice a parent can offer a child is attention, but parents are too glued to their phones to help their kids with their assignments or answer a bothering question.

These children suffer rejection, and on the other hand, end up in the wrong peer groups. Parents ought to be their kid’s best friend, unconditionally. It is because of this neglect that schools or examination institutions record mass failure after exams, cultism, and social vices. There is the multiplication of lesson centers or home tutors. These children are not after anything, but in pursuit of self discovery which their parents have failed to help them out with.

Africa as a whole is becoming more swallowed up by the craze of religion and churchianism, and as a result, some parents pay more attention to their pastors or church activities than their children. A parent’s first call of duty is their children. Due to over religiosity, some parents don’t teach their adolescents or teens about reproduction and the conditions of growing up, and as a result, most social vices recorded are from the church. It is time parents get back to being parents, and not money chasers.

It is not about giving your child the best comfort: the best ride, the most expensive school or even the world, it is about spending quality time with them.

Normal hyperactive children or a childhood disorder?

Tunji’s mother is becoming worried that he is very restless and is always jumping up and down the house from morning till evening. She initially downplayed her worries, after all, everyone says boys are always very active and troublesome. However, Tunji’s teacher also reports that he never sits in one place and he frequently disrupts the class because he is too restless.

The teacher is finding it difficult to cope with Tunji in class and has recommended that they should do something about him. Thus, the worried mother is now presenting in clinic, even though her friends have told her she is only worrying over nothing.

While some level of hyperactivity is common in children, often referred to sometimes as bundles of energy, it is also true that in some instances the level of hyperactivity is so severe that normal functioning is difficult and parents, caregivers and teachers struggle to cope. In such instances, it may be wise to have an evaluation by a child psychiatrist to ascertain if the child is suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

What is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)?

It is a disorder that is common in children, usually affecting boys more than girls, which is caused by chemical abnormalities in the brain. ADHD affects the ability of the brain to concentrate and pay attention, while also causing the child to be restless and impulsive. It specifically affects the parts of the brain that we use for planning, concentrating on tasks, self-control and problem-solving; thus resulting in the problems we see in children who have ADHD.

What are the major features of ADHD?

It is characterised by three types of problems: Impulsivity; Hyperactivity and Inattention.

So the child has significant problems with impulsivity, as they have a tendency to speak before thinking, will frequently interrupt others and keep blurting out answers….even before you complete the question. This impatience makes it difficult for them to do well in school as they are frequently in a hurry to answer the question and will therefore jump to an answer, before understanding the question properly. This negatively affects their academic performance.

Hyperactivity is another common type of problem among children with ADHD. They are very restless and usually all over the place. It appears as if they never get tired and very frequently, their caregivers and parents are completely worn out and exhausted all the time. They are also prone to accidents due to their carelessness.

Lastly, inattention is the last category of common problems that they usually display. They have trouble completing any task or their homework, they are easily distracted and so have a tendency to jump from one task to another – without completing any. They also make careless mistakes with their school work because they find it very difficult to concentrate and sustain attention on a given task for more than a few seconds.

How is ADHD different from just a hyperactive child?

A normally hyperactive child, will exhibit such tendencies on an episodic basis, but can calm down and focus on tasks. Additionally, some children may be hyperactive at home, but are better behaved when they get to school or are outside the home. Whereas, for children with ADHD, these symptoms are present all of the time and regardless of the setting: whether they are at home, in church/mosque or school…the symptoms are always present. And the severity of the symptoms makes it very difficult if not impossible for the parents or teachers to cope, without help.

What can be done for children with ADHD?

The first step is to seek expert evaluation and assessment from a child psychiatrist. If the diagnosis is confirmed, then there are medications that can be used to help such children to calm down and focus better on tasks. The treatment usually achieves very fantastic results and the drugs are not addictive and they are safe to use for a long time.

Usually the symptoms also improve as the child grows older into adulthood. In addition to treatment, parents and school teachers will also be given an explanation about what is happening, so they can better relate and cope with the situation.

So, if you have a child or you know one with hyperactivity problems and these other symptoms, seek an evaluation with a child psychiatrist nearest your location in order to receive expert care and help the child to improve their academic performance and attain their full potential. And if the child does not have ADHD, it would be re-assuring to confirm that is the case.

How to achieve Orgasm

Orgasm, is the climax of s3xual excitement, which comes with intense muscle tightening around the genital area, this is experienced as a pleasurable wave of tingling sensations through parts of the body; which leads to a feeling of complete fulfillment after a s3xual activity or experience.

There, however, could be physical or emotional reasons you are not experiencing a s3xual climax; with the right diagnosis and possibly a s3x therapy you can learn how to orgasm and have a satisfying s3xual relationship.

Some people feel the issue of not having orgasm is absolutely for women only, this is wrong because, both men and women experience this problem. The good thing, however, is that, help is available for both s3xes. While some women may have difficulty achieving orgasm, men also can have orgasm difficulties as well, especially if there are physical or emotional issues at play in the relationship.

The reasons some people cannot have orgasm or climax during s3x, include; Not having anorgasm at all, having a delayed orgasm; taking a long time or needing a lot of stimulation to achieve orgasm, not having a satisfactory orgasm, delayed ejaculation and ejaculation without orgasm

Some potential causes of these problems in women and men could be as a result of problem/ problems in the relationship, boredom in the bedroom, emotional or physical trauma, like rape or abuse. Others include, health conditions that affect nerves or hormone levels, being shy or embarrassed about s3x.

Another explanation; the physiologically aspect; this could be that they are not getting the right stimulation.  If either a man or a woman is used to achieving anorgasm with his or her own hand; masturbation, someone else’s touch and body part might seem strange and this could hinder s3xual climax or orgasm.

If you are experiencing difficulty achieving anorgasm, seeing a s3x therapist may help root out the reason and get the right treatment. A s3x therapist can also help determine if you are having a physical problem, and recommend that you see a physician.

To help identify the problem, a s3x therapist will ask about your s3xual history. Be prepared for topics to include a frank discussion of your current partners,  masturbation practices, and the nature of your symptoms. A s3x therapist will also ask about your expectations of s3x and what you want to achieve in your s3x life.

If there is a medical problem, your doctor will prescribe the appropriate treatment. And if the cause is psychological, working with a s3x therapist can help.

For the female orgasm, a woman should learn how to orgasm by herself and realise exactly what kind of stimulation it takes, including whether she needs to fantasise in order to have anorgasm.

For men, the process is similar. Part of the solution is the same for men and women when it comes to s3x; you have got to talk about it with your partner. If you want to achieve multiple orgasms or just feel uninhibited in the bedroom, you have to be open about your wants and needs.

While it could be normal to be embarrassed to talk about these intimate issues or be afraid of your partner’s reaction, you have to open up. If you can’t relax because of some unresolved problem between you, even if it is because the house is a mess; you must address it if you want to have a satisfying s3xual experience.

Talk about what you want, what you like, and what you need because if orgasm difficulties are affecting you, they are also affecting your partner. Talking about s3x and intimacy will only bring you closer together, and help ignite the fireworks you are looking for in the bedroom.

Hong Kong To Follow China In Banning Ivory Trade

Hong Kong lawmakers on Wednesday voted to ban ivory trade from 2021, a local media report said.

“The decision follows a similar ban in mainland China, which came into force at the end of 2017,’’ World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) said, adding that the decision was a “significant step.”

Report says the market for ivory in Hong Kong is one of the biggest in the world, with direct links to large-scale elephant poaching in Africa.

WWF noted that high demand for ivory in the special administrative region had led to a poaching crisis in Africa.

“About 20,000 elephants are killed illegally every year,’’ the organisation said.

Sack Cabals In Your Cabinet, Sagay Tells Buhari

Buhari

Minna – The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Professor Itse Sagay, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack those he described as ‘cabals’ in his government.

Sagay accused them of being the clog in the wheel of progress of the Buhari administration.

The Constitutional Expert expressed his opinion in an interview, Wednesday, shortly after he delivered the convocation lecture of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Gidan-Kwano, Minna, Niger State.

He said: “The cabals are not just holding down this government and giving this government a bad name, they have no business being in the Presidency and that is why they should be fished out and flushed out before it is too late for this government.”

Prof Sagay who, however, declined to mention the names of the cabals insisted that “they are not helpful to the President and the government; everybody is complaining about them.”

On the Maina saga, he explained that those behind his recall to the civil service should also be identified and punished because the matter was still very fresh and had not been swept under the carpet.

The trouble with the former chairman of the presidential task force did not start with the President Buhari administration, Sagay pointed out, but assured that the government was determined to bring the problems to an end to the satisfaction of all Nigerians.

Apparently worried by criticisms of the Buhari administration by Nigerians as a result of hardship in the country, he advised that “Nigeria should stay with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.”

“Buhari and Osinbajo have absolute integrity; if we don’t make use of them now, I don’t know when next we will have leaders like them,” he said.

The President, according to Sagay, should be firmer in decision-making, stating that if Nigeria must get to the Promised Land, the government would have to introduce some dose of autocracy or firmness.

Odd Enough: Ask dr. Pimple popper: 'what do I do about these dark spots on my face?'

Dr. Pimple Popper dark spot treatment

When people notice brown spots on their skin, it can be many different things—moles, freckles, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun spots and age spots…

Welcome to Skin SOS with Dr. Pimple Popper (a.k.a. Dr. Sandra Lee), where your biggest skin-care questions are answered by the internet’s favorite zit-popping dermatologist.

"How can I get rid of brown spots caused by sun damage? Whitening cream?" —Kristina G.

When people notice brown spots on their skin, it can be many different things—moles, freckles, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun spots and age spots… the list goes on and on. Some of them can (and should!) be treated, but some are better left alone.

For many people, brown spots appear (or get noticeably darker) when they’re in the sun. This is because when our skin is exposed to UVA and UVB rays, our body produces melanin.

READ ALSO: Want glowing skin? Here's 1 way to get it naturally

It's what gives our skin that glowing tan, but what many people don’t realize is that melanin production is actually our body’s defense mechanism—our skin’s way of protecting us from the sun. Some people’s skin naturally produces a lot of melanin, while others produce less.

Dermatologists diagnose sun damage spots as solar lentigos (sun spots), senile lentigos (age spots), or seborrheic keratoses (dark, wart-like growths).

I like to call them all wisdom spots! These dark patches can form after a long day in the sun or after years of cumulative sun damage (senile lentigos, for example occur in older people after decades of sun exposure)—which is why it’s so important to be wearing SPF all the time.

Most dark spots of this nature are typically harmless, but if you have any concerns about their shape or size, you should definitely consult with your dermatologist so that they can confirm their cause, whether or not they need to be biopsied, and to figure out the best treatment approach.

Dark spots cannot just simply be generalized or assumed to be one thing, so consulting with an expert is necessary for absolute confirmation.

(Gently cleanse your face every day with The Rain Facial Cleanser from the Women's Health Boutique.)

For patients that really want to lighten their sun-caused dark spots, they are in luck because there are lots and lots of skin-care products that are geared toward lightening and brightening. Salicylic acid is one of my favorite ingredients for treating a variety of skin ailments, including acne and dark spots.

It's so effective because in addition to being an anti-inflammatory and an antibacterial, it’s a keratolytic, which means it breaks down the keratin in our skin and thus helps to lighten dark spots.

If you have sensitive skin, salicylic acid can dry out the skin, so it’s best to use small amounts at first and then gradually increase the amount and frequency over time as your skin adjusts to it.

READ ALSO: Stop doing these things to your face!

I recommend incorporating a salicylic acid cleanser into your routine, such as the SLMD Acne Cleanser, or you can try a good spot treatment with salicylic acid, such as the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment.

Thankfully, salicylic acid is way more legit than some of the old DIY treatments women used to use:

I also like retinol for treating dark spots. Retinol works by increasing cell turnover, which means your skin is being told to shed old cells and create new ones—helping to get rid of those older dark spots. You should only use retinol at night as it is deactivated by the sun and not effective if applied in the morning. An easy way to implement retinol into your skincare regimen is by choosing a night serum or treatment such as SkinBetter AlphaRet Overnight Cream FACE.

Another alternative: Kojic acid is actually derived from fungi, and it’s an ingredient that’s known to limit melanin production in our skin.

Since excess melanin is what creates those dark spots on your skin, kojic acid can be a great option—a lot of people consider it a more natural alternative to hydroquinone, which is a much stronger whitening agent.

It's often paired in products with azelaic acid, which similarly works to suppress melanin production. If you have sensitive skin, it’s best to use products with kojic acid in small amounts (likely at night) to make sure it’s not too strong for your skin.

Dr. Pimple Popper sets out to promote the practice of dermatology and to educate the public on proper skincare and dermatological procedures. Enugu group raises alarm over smear campaign

ENUGU—AN advocacy group for the promotion of good governance in Enugu State,  Youth Coalition for Good Governance, has raised the alarm that some politicians are trying to lure its members to deploy their platform to fabricate and dish out lies with the aim of misinforming members of the public and changing their positive opinion about the “visionary and people-oriented” administration in Enugu and the State House of Assembly.

The group in a statement by its coordinator and secretary, Hon. Ikechukwu Ibeh and Engr. Jude Onyema, respectively, stated that the alarm became necessary in view of the pressure being mounted on them by the desperate individuals to accede to their selfish request.

The body added that its leaders rejected the offer presented to them because of their conviction that the plot was immoral, mischievous and baseless.

It said: “It is noteworthy that at a time most states are unable to pay workers’ salaries, the Government of Enugu State is up-to-date in payment of salaries; has recorded tremendous achievements in massive infrastructural development and even went further to pay the 13th  month salary to civil servants of the state as Christmas bonus, among others, in keeping with its commitment to the wellbeing of the people”.

The group disclosed that the ulterior motive of the sponsors of the planned smear campaign, revolves around their selfish political interest in 2019 general elections, adding that they had displayed similar crass desperation in the build-up to the 2015 elections, but failed woefully.

It further pointed out that the sponsors are envious of the good works of the present administration in the state in spite of the nation’s economic challenges and the goodwill, solidarity and support the government enjoys from the people as well as the undisputed status of Enugu as a peaceful and secure state.

The group stated that they also rejected the offer in appreciation of the harmonious and peaceful relationship between the state government and the House of Assembly, stressing that such devious plot should not be encouraged.

The body recalled that it is on record that the present administration had received several commendations from reputable institutions for prudent and judicious management of the finances of the state such as the federal government bailout funds to states, Paris Club refunds and monthly federal allocation, etc, to address the needs of the people, wondering why anyone would attempt to undermine these laudable feats.

The group noted that those behind the plot are also uncomfortable with the harmonious working relationship between the executive and the legislative arm, which it said, was responsible for the many remarkable achievements in the state attained through due process and strict adherence to budget implementation.

While alerting the public of such mischief, the group advised that “those behind the plot should have a rethink and channel their energy and resources to useful engagements that would add value to the development of Enugu State”.

Sani Usman: Troops neutralise militia on Benue/Nasarawa border

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, who confirmed this in a statement, said troops of 72 Special Forces Battalion and 177 Guards Batallion were alerted to the presence of an armed militia on the border.

Troops on Wednesday morning neutralised a militia along the Benue/Nassarawa State border during a clearance operation.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, who confirmed this in a statement, said troops of 72 Special Forces Battalion and 177 Guards Batallion were alerted to the presence of an armed militia on the border.

Usman said at the time of the alert “the criminals were setting houses on fire in Igacha village, about 4 km away from Kadarko town.”

“Troops responded immediately by mobilising to the area to stop the arson and apprehend the perpetrators.

“The militia on sighting troops, abandoned their mission and scampered for safety in different directions.

“However, the troops neutralised one of the assailants, while others escaped with gun shot wounds,” he said

The army spokesman said a cordon-and-search operation was in progress in the general area to track down the fleeing armed criminals.

He appealed to the inhabitants of the area to be on the lookout for wounded persons and report to the security agencies.
